JOUNI exists because of a simple frustration: almost everything sold as “gold jewelry” online is plated, and almost all of it is green within a year.
Where we started
We began with one necklace and a bench. A friend wanted a solitaire pendant that would survive being worn every day — through showers, the gym, the school run — without turning her neck green or needing to be replaced every season. Plated would not do it. Gold-filled would not do it either.
So we made it in solid 14 karat. Then we made the matching studs, then a chain heavy enough to feel, and it turned out there were a lot of people waiting for exactly that.
What 14K actually means
Fourteen karat is 58.3% pure gold, alloyed with metals that make it hard enough to survive daily wear. Twenty-four karat is softer and scratches; eighteen karat is beautiful but pricier and less durable. Fourteen is the karat that real jewelers reach for when a piece is meant to be worn rather than displayed.

How we choose
We do not run a catalogue. Every piece in the collection is picked by hand, made in small runs, and dropped when it stops being good. That is why the collection is small, and why it stays small.
